Pricing & Cost

How much does a new garage door cost in South Orange County?
New garage door costs in South OC vary widely by size, material, and style. Basic single-car steel doors start around $700–$1,200 installed. Mid-range carriage house or traditional double-car doors run $1,500–$3,000. Custom wood doors range from $3,000 to $10,000+ depending on species, design complexity, and size. We provide free, no-obligation estimates – call (949) 302-8181 or submit our contact form.
How much does garage door installation cost?
Installation labor is typically included in our quoted price. We do not charge separate installation fees – the quote you receive covers the door, all hardware, springs, installation, cleanup, and testing. The total cost for a standard double-car door installation in South OC typically falls between $1,500 and $4,000 for most popular styles and materials.
Do you offer financing for garage door purchases?
We can discuss flexible payment arrangements on larger projects. Please call us at (949) 302-8181 to discuss your project budget and we will do our best to work with your financial situation. We believe every South OC homeowner deserves a quality garage door and we are committed to finding a solution that works for you.
What factors affect the price of a new garage door?
The main factors that influence garage door pricing are: (1) Size – single vs. double car, standard vs. custom dimensions; (2) Material – steel, wood, composite, fiberglass, or aluminum; (3) Style – traditional, carriage house, contemporary, or custom; (4) Insulation level – single, double, or triple layer; (5) Window options and decorative hardware; (6) Opener (if included). We provide transparent itemized quotes so you know exactly what you are paying for.
Do you provide free estimates?
Yes. All estimates from Avaunt Garage Doors are completely free and come with no obligation. We will visit your home, assess your existing door and opening, discuss your goals and preferences, and provide a written quote. We serve all of South Orange County for free estimates.

Repair vs. Replace

When should I repair my garage door vs. replace it?
As a general guideline: if your door is less than 10 years old and the repair cost is under $500, repair is usually the right choice. If the door is 15+ years old, has multiple issues, or the repair cost exceeds 50% of a new door's price, replacement is almost always the smarter long-term investment. Factors like outdated aesthetics, poor insulation, and mismatched HOA compliance may also favor replacement even for younger doors. We provide honest assessments with no pressure either way.
How long do garage doors last?
A quality garage door that is properly installed and maintained will typically last 20–30 years. Steel doors tend to last the longest with minimal maintenance. Wood doors last just as long but require more active maintenance (refinishing every 2–4 years). The springs, cables, rollers, and opener typically have shorter service lives (7–15 years) and may need replacement before the door itself does.
What are the signs that I need a new garage door?
Key signs you need a new door: (1) The door is sagging, warped, or no longer sits level when closed; (2) Multiple sections are damaged or the door has been hit by a vehicle; (3) The door is 15–20+ years old and looks significantly dated compared to your home; (4) Repair costs are accumulating year after year; (5) The door provides poor insulation and you have an attached garage; (6) The door fails HOA requirements. If you are unsure, we offer free assessments.
Can individual panels be replaced without replacing the whole door?
Yes, in many cases. If only one or two panels are damaged and the door style is still available from the manufacturer, individual panel replacement is often possible and significantly more economical than full door replacement. However, if the door is older, the panel style may be discontinued. We will assess the damage and check parts availability to give you an honest recommendation.

Installation

How long does garage door installation take?
Most standard garage door installations take 3–5 hours for a single-car door and 4–8 hours for a double-car door. This includes removal of the old door and disposal, installation of the new door sections, tracks, springs, and hardware, connection to the opener (if included), and full testing and adjustment. Custom wood doors or complex high-lift configurations may require additional time. We always aim to complete the job in a single visit.
Do I need to be home during the installation?
Yes, we ask that an adult homeowner or authorized representative be present for the full duration of the installation. This allows us to answer any questions that arise, confirm final decisions on adjustments, and walk you through the operation of the new door and opener at the end of the appointment. If you need to step out briefly, that is fine, but please plan to be available.
What happens to my old garage door?
We remove and haul away your old garage door as part of our standard installation service at no additional charge. We properly recycle steel components and dispose of all other materials. You do not need to arrange separate disposal – we take care of everything.
Can you install a garage door the same day I call?
Same-day installation is possible in some circumstances, particularly for standard in-stock door sizes. Custom-ordered doors typically require a lead time of 2–4 weeks from order confirmation. If same-day service is important to you, call us directly at (949) 302-8181 and we will let you know what we have available. For emergency situations where the door cannot be secured, we prioritize fast solutions.
